Busan Sandan-Tayo: Digitalizing Industrial-Complex Commuter Buses with GroundK's T-RiseUp TMS

Busan Sandan-Tayo is a digital commuting service built on GroundK's T-RiseUp TMS to give workers across 11 industrial complexes in Busan real-time bus tracking and route guidance. GroundK launched the web page in August 2025 and released the dedicated app and administrator system in October, surveying commuter routes on site so that app data matches actual boarding points.

Why Busan Chose to Digitalize Industrial-Complex Commuting

Busan's major industrial complexes anchor the regional economy, yet most sit in mountainous areas or on the city's outskirts. That geography limited public-transit access, and the existing commuter buses lacked accurate route information and real-time location services, leaving workers with daily uncertainty about when a bus would arrive.

To address this, the City of Busan partnered with GroundK on the Busan Sandan-Tayo project, aiming to give workers a smarter, wait-free commute and operators a data-driven management solution. The operators are the Busan Economic Promotion Agency and the bus companies; GroundK's role was to design and build the service on T-RiseUp TMS so those operators could monitor and manage the fleet themselves.

Turning Workers' Needs into a Working System

The project went beyond simply adding vehicles; it focused on a digital shift in how workers experience their daily commute. GroundK opened the web page in August 2025 and, in October, released the dedicated application alongside the administrator system.

Workers can now check a bus's live location in the app and bookmark frequently used stops to receive alerts. On the management side, GroundK built a dedicated environment where administrators at the Busan Economic Promotion Agency and the bus companies monitor field conditions in real time and read ridership data to make decisions, raising operational efficiency well beyond the previous setup.

Field Surveys and Precise Design Behind the System Upgrade

Building the system was not without friction. To resolve the gap between map coordinates and actual stop locations, GroundK conducted on-site surveys of commuter routes across all 11 industrial complexes. By verifying where buses actually stop and the landmarks around each point, the team aligned what users see in the app with where they really board.

GroundK also tackled the location-lag problem that had dogged the previous system, optimizing the data-transmission protocol to collect vehicle positions in real time at the second level. Designing routes on foot and refining the live tracking system this way reflects how GroundK solves on-the-ground problems with technology.

T-RiseUp TMS at the Core of the Service

Underneath every part of this service is T-RiseUp TMS, GroundK's B2B SaaS platform. T-RiseUp TMS is an integrated management system for vehicles and drivers, and in this project it kept the user app, the driver app, and the administrator system exchanging data as one connected flow.

With data visualization that supports detailed route optimization, the system sets a stable, smart operating standard for sites that need large-scale transport infrastructure. Busan Sandan-Tayo is a system-provision case: GroundK supplied and built T-RiseUp TMS for the client's environment, and the operators, the Busan Economic Promotion Agency and the bus companies, manage the commuter buses on that same system.

A Mobility Partner That Changes Daily Life

The successful rollout of Busan Sandan-Tayo shows how mobility technology can solve real field problems and improve workers' quality of life. Surveying routes in person and refining a live tracking system reinforced the depth of GroundK's expertise.

Drawing on this industrial-complex commuting experience, GroundK will keep building optimized transport environments wherever systematic fleet management and IT services are needed, from event shuttles and school shuttles to resident shuttles for apartment communities. Whenever a shuttle service is needed, GroundK is ready to be the partner you can rely on.
