Smart Evolution of Industrial Park Shuttle! Case Study of ’Busan Sandantayo’ Powered by GroundK

Major industrial complexes in the Busan area serve as key hubs driving the local economy. However, most are characterized by geographical peculiarities, being located in mountainous areas or on the outskirts of the city. These locational constraints have led to poor public transportation accessibility, and even existing commuter bus systems caused significant inconvenience to workers due to a lack of accurate route information and real-time location tracking services. Consequently, the City of Busan joined forces with GroundK to promote the 'Busan Sandantayo' project, aiming to provide a 'smart, wait-free commute environment' for workers and a 'data-driven systematic management solution' for operators.

This project focused on digital transformation to change the daily lives of workers, going beyond mere vehicle deployment. GroundK launched advanced services by opening the webpage in August 2025, followed by the official release of a dedicated application and administrator system in October. Now, workers can easily check the real-time location of buses via the app and receive notifications by bookmarking their frequently used stops. From a management perspective, a dedicated management environment was established where the Busan Economic Promotion Agency and transport operators can control on-site situations in real-time and analyze usage status based on data, drastically increasing operational efficiency.

The process of building a perfect system was not without its hurdles. To resolve the discrepancy between coordinates on the map and actual bus stop locations, GroundK conducted thorough on-site measurement inspections for commuter routes across 11 industrial complexes. By directly verifying the locations where buses actually stop and the surrounding landmarks, we increased precision to ensure that the information users see on the app matches the actual boarding locations. Furthermore, to address the chronic issue of location information delays found in existing systems, we optimized transmission protocols to secure a second-by-second real-time location collection system, thereby perfecting service quality.

At the core of all these IT solutions lies GroundK's powerful B2B SaaS-based system, 'T-RiseUp TMS'. T-RiseUp TMS is an integrated management system that supports vehicle and driver management. It served as the key engine in this project, enabling the user app, driver-only app, and administrator system to exchange data organically. By supporting sophisticated route optimization through data visualization, this system presents a smart operational standard and high stability for sites requiring large-scale transportation infrastructure.

The successful establishment of the Busan Sandantayo project is a significant indicator that mobility technology can solve real-world on-site challenges and improve the quality of life for workers. This experience, which involved designing routes by working directly in the field and advancing real-time control systems, served as an opportunity to further solidify GroundK's expertise.
