GroundK “Leading Digital Transformation in Regional Tourism Transportation”

Self-Developed 'Tourism Taxi Solution' Officially Launching Through 'All That Travel'

Many regions offer services like city tour buses and tourism taxis for visitors. However, inconvenient booking systems and fragmented operations still frequently lead to early termination or downsizing of these services. A company has boldly stepped forward claiming they can solve this problem.

GroundK is that company. Founded in 2016 by CEO Dong-won Jang to provide IT-based mobility services needed by businesses and institutions. From the beginning, they have introduced innovative IT solutions based on their understanding of the work environments of customers, transportation companies, and drivers. As an extension of these efforts, they recently succeeded in developing solutions for operating tourism taxis and city tours for local governments.

"Convenient use is basic. The key is supplier-based digital transformation."

CEO Jang made this statement about the newly launched tourism taxi solution. As of 2024, over 40 local governments operate tourism taxis, but foreign tourists still find them difficult to use, and many still operate bookings and customer service by phone. In particular, local government operators are overwhelmed with excessive tasks including reservation management, dispatch, customer service, and settlement. With such poor conditions for both tourists and operators, it's impossible to manage service quality or actively respond to increasing reservations.

GroundK developed the tourism taxi solution after identifying problems from the inconveniences of both users and suppliers to improve them simultaneously. Domestic and international tourists can make reservations easily, while operators can handle all tasks including dispatch, control, and customer service simply. Notably, tourists can design free itineraries rather than following fixed courses, completely solving the limitations of public transportation. In other words, it improves the limitations of both tourists and operators in one channel while enhancing tourism service quality.

"We need to discover regional tourism insights through data."

Additionally, GroundK is introducing solutions for city tour bus reservations, operations, and management. Like tourism taxis, many local governments operate city tours, but the IT infrastructure for reservations and operations is poor. The city tour solution includes features for user convenience such as reservations, payments, and ticket checking, as well as features for operators like route setting and vehicle dispatch.

CEO Jang describes the two solutions being introduced as 'solutions for discovering tourism insights for each region.' He added, "By analyzing tourists' demographic classifications and movement data, we can discover regional tourism trends." He explains that the tourism taxi and city tour solutions will satisfy tourist needs and improve accessibility to promising tourism resources, contributing to regional economic revitalization and population decline prevention.

Solving Pain Points of Tourists and Local Government Officials Through Digital Transformation

"Providing burden-free demonstration opportunities for local governments"

GroundK plans to officially launch the solutions at 'All That Travel' in July. They have already completed the tourism transportation-themed booth design and are preparing an experience zone where visitors can directly use the solutions. Jonghoon Choi, the marketing manager for this event, said "We will provide free demonstration opportunities so local governments don't feel burdened by digital transformation" and expressed hope that "many regional tourism transportation officials will visit."

Meanwhile, GroundK is expanding its influence in the MICE industry by participating as a transportation service provider for the '2024 Busan World Table Tennis Championships' and '2024 Korea-Africa Summit'. Additionally, they are growing into a convergence company with excellent service capabilities and technology, developing various technologies for tourism transportation and receiving certifications such as Growth Tourism Venture Company, Busan Tourism Star Company, and Tourism Plus Tech Company.
