GroundK Signs MOU with INTERCOM for K-MICE Growth

Driving MICE Industry Changes Through IT Technology

Tourism mobility startup GroundK (CEO Dong-won Jang) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Professional Congress Organizer (PCO) INTERCOM (Co-CEOs Tae-young Choi, Jae-min Seok) for mutual collaboration.

On the 12th, both companies held a signing ceremony at INTERCOM D2 Studio, agreeing to cooperate in various fields to strengthen K-MICE competitiveness and discover new MICE business opportunities. Through this agreement, they will seek joint strategies to improve work efficiency through technological changes in the MICE ecosystem.

GroundK CEO Dong-won Jang said, "We expect great synergy from combining INTERCOM's operational capabilities with GroundK's technology and know-how," adding, "We will make various efforts for the development of the global tourism and MICE industry."

Planning to Cooperate in New Business Discovery and Startup Nurturing

INTERCOM CEO Jae-min Seok stated, "We will discover new businesses with GroundK from a mid to long-term perspective to advance into the global market beyond Korea." He also mentioned the need for fresh ideas in the MICE industry, saying, "We will create an environment where promising startups can grow."

INTERCOM, established in 1985, is Korea's leading Global PCO that has enhanced K-MICE's status by hosting numerous prestigious international conferences. The company has successfully completed various international conferences including the '56th Asian Development Bank (ADB) Annual Meeting' held in May this year, as well as the 'Seoul Nuclear Security Summit' and 'Seoul G20 Summit'. The 'World Knowledge Forum' and 'Global Breast Cancer Conference (GBCC)', held in 2000 and 2007 respectively, have become Korea's representative conventions, with GBCC particularly being selected as an excellent K-Convention by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. Additionally, the company appointed Jae-min Seok as CEO earlier this year, initiating a co-CEO system with Tae-young Choi, and is taking bold steps to create new changes in the MICE market.
